If anyone seeks ill of you, praise them always.
If anyone injures you, serve them nicely.
If anyone persecutes you, help them in all possible ways.
You will attain immense strength.
You will control anger and pride.
You will enjoy peace, poise and serenity.
You will become divine...
Swami Sivananda
This week I have been exposed to and have witnessed a lot of pain from terrible interactions among people. Most of these painful interactions had to do with at least one party feeling that somehow it was OK for him to humiliate or belittle the other person. What makes some people feel that they are so right, so superior as to be able to justify hurting and breaking others apart just to justify their unrealistically magnified sense of self?
If we could just recognize the Christ in other people, if we could just be aware that we are interacting with people that are not only our equal, that they are actually imbued with the Holy Spirit, then we would treat each other with respect and dignity. Oh, I so pray that all people would see the divine in others. Our world will be so much more peaceful, and less hearts would suffer. I pray for those whose hearts I witnessed break into pieces this week. I pray for those who had no sense of humility or kindness in them this week.
