How do you pray for young adults? What do you pray about? We care so much for our kids, but then it comes a time when they are ready to fly off the birds nest. I have been praying a lot for my daughter Elena today. She is a Freshman in Fordham University and is a member of the swim team. The team flew to Puerto Rico yesterday for a week of intense training (and fun). She is a good girl with a good head on her shoulders. She is confident and independent. Yet, this is the first big, long trip like this without relatives. I have been praying for her safety, that she trains without injuries, and that she has fun.
In general, the main thing I pray for my young adults is that God will grace them with a flame in their hearts that burns for God. I pray that they will always feel a pull, a calling, a thirst for God and all things holy. If they have God in their hearts, they will have everything. I pray that they will find ways to use their talents to make the world better, particularly to ease poverty, suffering, sickness, and violence. I pray that they will be happy, peaceful, and safe.
