Both Happy Catholic and TSO have extremely interesting posts about the symbolism of Our Lady of Guadalupe. Please go and take a read..., fascinating! Our Lady of Guadalupe is very much loved by our neighbors in Mexico, much more than in any other place. However, she was the patron of my hometown in Ponce, Puerto Rico, so she is very dear to my heart. I was baptized at Our Lady of Guadalupe Cathedral. She is also the patron of the Americas. We will be celebrating her feast on December 12th.

I have been surprised to find that I have a soft spot for Our Lady of Guadalupe, much more so than for most Marian apparitions. Perhaps it is the sweet story of Juan Diego. A lot of it though is because of all that symbolism (it just grabs me somehow). :-)

I had the great joy of visiting the tilma in Mexico City back five years ago. I feel similarly very close to this Marian apparation too, for whatever reason!

Julie and TSO thanks for visiting and commenting. How wonderful to see that so many years later we are still benefiting and enriching our faith. Some day I'd love to see the tilma in Mexico.
